How to add an announcement bar to Shopify
You can add a polished announcement bar to Shopify with Quicky without editing Liquid or changing theme files. This guide takes you from installation to a verified live banner.
What you will create
A responsive announcement bar that:
- Displays a clear store-wide message.
- Links to a product, collection, page, or relative Shopify path.
- Matches your storefront colors and typography.
- Works on desktop and mobile.
- Can be scheduled or targeted later.
1. Install and open Quicky
- Install Quicky from the Shopify App Store.
- Open Shopify Admin, select Apps, then select Quicky.
- Select Create banner.
- Choose Announcement Bar for one message or Multi Announcement Bar for rotating messages.
2. Write a clear announcement
Keep the message short enough to read on a mobile screen. Lead with the customer benefit, then add one action.
Examples:
- Free shipping on orders over $75. Shop now.
- Summer sale: save 20% through Sunday.
- New customer? Read our getting-started guide.
3. Add the destination
- Select a Shopify product, collection, or page from the resource picker.
- Alternatively, enter a relative path such as /collections/new-arrivals or /pages/contact.
- Use a relative path when the destination should preserve the visitor's Shopify Market and language.
- Open the visit-link preview and confirm the destination before publishing.
4. Match your storefront
- Choose a background and text color with enough contrast.
- Select a font and weight that remain readable on mobile.
- Preview the bar on desktop, tablet, and mobile.
- Keep the bar compact so it does not cover storefront content.
5. Save and enable the app embed
- Select Save and wait for the confirmation.
- Return to the Quicky dashboard and select Enable app.
- Shopify opens the theme editor with the Quicky app embed selected.
- Turn on the app embed and save the theme.
6. Publish and verify
- Return to Quicky and open the saved banner.
- Select Publish.
- Open the storefront in a private browser window.
- Check the homepage and any targeted pages on desktop and mobile.
- Test the link and confirm that the expected destination opens.
Common issues
If Save or Publish is unavailable:
- Complete any required fields.
- Wait for image or font uploads to finish.
- Save the latest changes before publishing.
- Confirm that the app embed is enabled on the published theme.
- Confirm that its status is Published.
- Review scheduling, targeting, and banner priority.
- Test a visitor and page that match the targeting rules.
- Use the Publish and display troubleshooting guide for additional checks.
